OK Baby Claude, pleze excuse me if you're of the male gender! But many of these suggestions are good for the goose & the gander!

We lived between Verona & Venice for 2 1/2 years and March & April can still be a little chilly (down to the 40's at night...), yet can also be warm enough to sit outside in the sun at a cafe with a campari spritz! (Layers!) ... DO know that the Italian women (and men, actually) dress VERY well. No sweats, etc. Of course they easily abide the sloppy Americans (I was one!), but it's also fun to get swept up into their sense of fashion and to blend in a little more (I did!). Bring or buy a scarf (NOT a winter one), some boots with at least a little heel, colorful clothing, skirts or fashion jeans. You wanna' present a "bella figura" not "brutta figura"! Here's a fun blog that I found regarding same:

Have a great time and say Ciao to Italia from me!

p.s. Here's a good site to track the weather on as you get closer to your trip:

p.p.s. A good versatle black, go-with-anything, nonwrikle-able skirt is ALWAYS a good chioce! Just ball it up & throw it in your suitcase; wash it out in the hotel sink & it's dry by the morning!

I live in Italy and there's a warm weather right now, around 15-16° C (I don't know Fahrenheit sorry) on daytime and 8° during the night.
Just bring light clothes and a jacket for the night.
I don't think you'll need an umbrella or heavy clothes, we're having warm sunny days

Weather in Europe has four seasons like we do here-pretty much the same. I was in Italy in October and it was fairly warm but cold at night as is usual in fall. For March or early April I would take some warm things-jeans, a jacket and maybe throw in a pair of shorts in case it gets warm. March can be a crazy month-dress in layers. Have fun, Italy is awesome.

i don't know where in italy you are going to stay, but i'm in florence right now, and this week it has been rainy and a bit cold...bring t shirts and a couple of sweaters

L L
Depends where you are going. I am in Rome and it has been raining pretty much non-stop since Friday last week.... The days are nice however but the nights get cold.

It will be somewhat chilly this time of year, so plan accordingly.

The women all seemed to be wearing the high boots - with skirts, jeans, skinny pants, leggings, etc etc. People wear a lot of black and lots of scarves, etc.

Just don't try too hard - they will know you're an American regardless of how well you try to blend in. :)

Matteo M
ha hahahah , if you are american... please wear nice clothes..I see a lot of american young tourist and they look like they are street beggars.. or homeless! Just because you are in a different country doesn't mean you can look like crap!
FYI... don't bring the flip flops unless you are planning to visit the beach!

Happy travels....
