Food. The best thing about Italy is the food! Italian politics are a great mystery to me. Must be a mystery to a good few Italians, I'll bet.

i think its a lovely country. nice places of landscape, culture and history to visit. i have been in vicenza and verona and they were both nice places!! good food, but you can find "authentic" italian food everywhere =) lol!!!
about the people...well i have nice italian friends that are female. however, i cannot seem to get along with italian guys. there is some sort of wall they put up. one minute they are so sweet and wonderful, and the next minute they turn into a nasty, dirty talking "dog." but i would imagine not all italian guys are this way, at least i hope!!! lol!!!
anyways, its a cool place ***viva italia***

I do not know what Italy in general is like, but following is my opinion of ROME.

It's a very collective society. The concept of diversity doesn't exist in Rome.

Annoying, rude men. Even more annoying than American Latinos. Love treating foreign women as if they were prostitutes.

People are very prejudiced. Like I said before, the concept of diversity doesn't exist in Rome.

Friendly people, if you know how to present yourself.

Dirty streets, dog's caca everywhere.

A relatively safe place.

Nice, romantic language.

Family connection is very important.

People judge you by what kind of shoes you wear.

So far I'm deeply disappointed in Rome. But I'm sure other places in Italy are very different. I would love to visit Venice someday.
