Honeymoon to Italy?

Planning a honeymoon to Italy in Spring of 08. Would like to know some tips, do's and don'ts, must see attractions, and also what place to go to? Rome? Venice? Palermo? I'd like a romantic spot of course, but also a city with some kind of night life. Any suggestions, comments, tips? Thanks!

Hi!I am italian!i don't understand very well your question; I have only understood that you are looking for some romantic places for your honeymoon here in Italy, with interesting things to do and nightlife...right?
So,i live near siena(in tuscany, in the centre of Italy)...I can tell you that in Tuscany there are some of the most beautiful places of Italy!Siena,Firenze and the other cities are full of museum and works of art...but farm holiday too is an interesting option:you can stay in a farm house (with swimming pool, horses, tipical food,...)and,from there, move in the places round there.
Other interesting places:Venezia(a lot of people in honeymoon go to Venezia), Roma,Verona(there is the balcony of Romeo e Giulietta),Garda's Lake (near this lake there is Gardaland, for child and adults),Trieste,..
you have to eat italian food,is fantastic!!
In big cities is easy that prices are too big (expecially for tourists) and....attention at your bags and luggage!expecially in the south of italy...
Finally,i can tell you that the city with the best quality of life is Siena.
Sorry for my bad english, i hope i could give you a help...enjoy your trip and your honeymoon!
P.s.I wish I'll come to america one day

I'm from Italy.
I suggest you some options:
1) Venice, very traditional and romantic. Perfect for a honeymoon
2) Tour of Tuscany: Siena, Florence, Arezzo, Pisa... nice spots, nice cities, lot of things to do in the night and many many romantic hotels and agritourisms.
3) If you like the mountain chose Dolomiti (noth east): simply lovely!

My favorite place in Itay has to ber Vernazza, part of Cinque Terre. They are a line of 5 seaside hillside small towns that are linked by rail and hiking paths, no roads. Small and quiet and a good place to get to know the locals.

Also if you get the change to book ahead and stay in a hotel actually on Venice, yes the island itself, do so. Nothing is more romantic that a gondola at night and sitting out side drinking wine watching the boats go by on the grand canal.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

Rome is the ghetto and not very romantic, but you might enjoy Venice or Milano during your honeymoon.

Florence!
The "lungarno" by night is soooo romantic!!
As "piazzale michelangelo" or "Forte belVedere"(u can see the stars at night!)
We got a wonderfull nightlife...(a cool place to go is "Yab")
Some of the most beautiful restaurants (like "Angels")
and shopping is really awsome! (girls like shopping!)
Trust me...
I live in a splendid city!
(Venice too is beautifull...but it stinks!)
(Rome is too big...not that romantic!)
(Palermo is too cahotic, but still cool!)

You should definitely go to the amalfi coast stay in priano, and of course Sicily to see Mt Etna. Verona is cool too, it's a little town that's very romantic and also not too touristy.

I agree that Tuscany is really beautiful and romantic, especially Siena and Florence. I loved Verona and think it would be quite romantic (i was there as a college senior, not with a husband). Lago di Garda (Lake Garda) and the surrounding area is breathtaking.
As for Venice, I just didn't love it as much as some people seem to... It's really amazing and definitely worth seeing but it's very expensive, a bit smelly (especially in the summer) and the streets roll up at night (ie: there is virtually NO nightlife). So, if that's ok with you, then go. But I wouldn't spend more than a couple of days in Venice.
Italy has so much more to offer!
