Hotel Recommendation near Rome Termini Station?

I'll be passing through Rome in August (on the way to Capri). I'm looking for a decent but cheap hotel near the train station for one or two nights, preferably within walking decent or a short cab ride. I looked at two Best Westerns that looked okay. Would prefer a hotel with a nice restaurant or close to one. Thanks.

If you stay near Termini, remember to visit S. Maria Maggiore and S. Prassede!

enjoy :)))

Hotel Madison: it's opposite of Termini

I stayed at the Via Delle Rose in May 2002 - it was pretty good

There are absolutely loads and loads of hotels around Termini. The south side is probably considered the "nicer" side, anywhere from Termini down via Cavour towards the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore. You don't want to stay anywhere further east of Via Cavour though. Not that great an area. The Radisson is down there though.

I have no problem staying on the north side of Termini though. Plenty of hotels up to about 3 star scattered around there within 2 mins walk. Just do a search on any of the accommodation websites. A few nice restaurants and wine bars around there too. But it's Italy, all the food is good!
