I have had the opportunity to travel several times to Northern Italy, so if you can tell me which towns you want to visit, I will be happy to recommend hotels/B&Bs in the ones with which I am familiar.

Yes, there are hotels in Italy. A very wide range of them.
It's a large country, of many cities/towns/villages-where, specifically, did you have in mind?

Felicity???
Details please. <*-*>

Anyways, Italy have hotels from budget to top-end price range.
It also depends on where you are staying in Italy.

Some of the best places are to be found by clicking on the top link on this page - http://www.my-italy-piedmont-marche-and-more.com/luxury-villas.html

These are top class hotels so If they are a little to expensive for you you could always try trip advisor.

I just booked a B&B through SleepinItaly.com.
Someone here in Yahoo Answers recommended it.

I think the apartments and B&Bs look great. They're priced reasonably and booking was easy and fast. We shall see.....
