Why are hotels in Trieste so expensive? For a city rather off the beaten path, there seems to be a death of truly nice budget accommodations (under 100 Euros per night for a double room with two-person occupancy). Additional Details For some reason, for the dates I want (in late November), the BW San Giusto, Continentale, and Roma are in the 100+ Euros range. Unfortunately, the Starhotels Savoia Excelsior in Trieste is closed for renovations. I appreciate all the suggestions, and I'll keep looking.
By the way, does anyone know why Trieste's hotel scene is so pricey?

I found it pricey as well....I was using it, as Ryanair flies there ( or nearby) and I needed a place to stay the night before..I wandered around for an hour and couldn't find any except a 4* place...where I checked in...and then literally went round the corner and found cheaper places...I remember paying around 100 euros for me!!! The most expensive place I ever stayed in!!! It was nice but boy oh boy.
Maybe the area is so out of the way that they can hike prices up as you have to stay SOMEWHERE.....from what I remember there were cheaper places as I was annoyed I found them AFTER I checked into my expensive place....I think it was around 60 euros or something...this was in April.
