There isn't a lot of nightlife in Venice. Your best bet is the area around Campo Santa Margherita (Dorsoduro - near Accademia) or as a second choice out on the Lido.

You could try this website

We went last year to the Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth & it was great. It's just around the corner from St Pauls Square which is the centre on Venice & where all the life is.

Hope this helps!

Stay away from Best Western Caveletto & Doge.
Great website, great location, but it was more like a bait and switch. We had to lug our bags up flights of stairs to get to our room. Definitely not 4 star.

yes, the nightlife is pretty none existant in Venice but there are a couple of good bars in piazza san marco. This area is really where all the action is and you could also try Campo Santa Margherita which is a bit more studenty. If you're looking for hotels there are plenty to choose from but a great way to experience the city is with an apartment. I used these guys the last time I went there http://www.holiday-velvet.com/venice and they have apartments all around the city. An excellent place to stay is either San Polo or around the Rialto bridge.

First, don't get caught up with location in Venice. It's a REALLY small city. You can walk the city in a few hours. That being said I stayed at the Hotel Abbazia. I cannot sing their praises enough. I absolutely love this hotel. The room itself was small, but the bathroom, nearly as big as the room itself was absolutely wonderful. I don't know how they did it, but when you fill up the bathtub the water looks blue, but only when it's in the tub. The room had a comfy, firm bed, flat screen TV, free mini bar, and a vast delicous breakfast. If you go there make sure that you have a warm croissant filled with melty chocolate. I can explain how good this is, and I don't even like chocolate. My husband ended up in the hospital the first night we were there and the staff called to check up on him and up to the room to fill me in even when I didn't ask. It doesn't have a canal view, but you do get a lovely view of the gardens in the courtyard. Also, if either of you have problems with stairs, this is not the hotel for you. It used to be an abbey, so there are no elevators, but the staff brings all your bags to the room.
