How can a student rent a room in Rome?

For six months, and know a little Italian.

Buy the magazine "Secondamano" and check the ads, also go to each campus of the Rome University and there are some ads for rent a room or flat.

When you get there stay in a cheap youth hostel for the first few days, while looking for a room to rent.
Go to the university cafeterias or other students' gathering places, you'll find a lot of paper ads on the walls. that's the best and easiest way to get a room in Rome.
Those ads say things like this "affittasi posto letto in camera singola per ragazzo a 300 euro al mese". You only have to call and see the room.
Good luck!

u need to do some research..they do have youth hostels, but it could get spendy if ur planning on staying for a few months..have u considered an exchange program..sort of..u go and stay with a family who "sponsors" you while u study they also have study programs where students can study abroad for a semester i think that is where the sponsorship comes from..also u are probably old enough to rent an apartment..or someone like a parent can do it for you from usa..very practical option.

NOT EASILY. Apartments are very hard to come by in Rome. You have to either know somebody, or be willing to pay $$ and get a real estate agent.

Sorry for the bad news.
