It depends, are you planning on working there or living there? If you are just visiting they will give you a temporary visa stamped in to your passport when you arrive. If you are traveling from Germany or France, its most likely they won't even check your passport. |

it depends on your citizenship. if u are from an eu country then definitely you do not need one. otherwise u have to comply with the requirements of the italian embassy where u live. the forms and faqs are found in their website |
