How do I convince my parents...?
to let me go on a class trip to Italy in the summer?
money isn't a problem. At first my dad claimed that I wouldn't have time because I'm going to do college visits but then I said I'd have 3 months to do them, as the trip is only 10 days. Then he changed his argument to "I don't need to." I'm not irresponsible. I honestly don't understand why they wouldn't let me go.
And in my defense, I think I do need it. I'm kind of trying to experience life a little more than most people around me have.
It's an EDUCATIONAL trip! it's not like you are going with your class to party (although you will a little bit) you will learn an entirely new culture and language..something different..it's an amazing experience and will increase your cultural awareness

The best reason to visit Italy is to broaden your cultural exposure.
My wife and I visited Italy September 2007 and the experience was outstanding. We flew to Rome where we stayed 4 days including a day trip to Pompeii. Then we traveled by train to Florence by train for 3 days and then on to Venice by train for 3 days before returning to Rome for a day before flying home.
I was overwhelmed by the quality of life in Pompeii when Vesuvius erupted in 67 AD.
The Colosseum, Forum and Vatican in Rome are an education in ancient culture.
Did you know that the statue of David on display in Florence represented freedom to the people of Italy. David slew the giant that resulted in freedom of the peoples.
The contribution to your cultural exposure by traveling to Italy is not measurable.
lmao!!
I am going to tell you what my english teacher taught me. Use the word "but" in the sentence.
Example:
I understand that you want me to visit colleges and you think I might not be responsible but I will visit college as soon as I get back and maybe letting me go to italy will intrest me in a better job and I might get a better job then "whatever you want to be."
I used the but excuse and it works so well!
I hope I helped!

the most likely reason they dont want you to go is probably they dont want anything happening to you. Tell them you will keep in touch with them everyday by callin them on your phone. Thats one step they will be less worried i guess

Perhaps your parents really cannot afford to send you to Italy. You might not think money's a problem, but they would have a different point of view, especially if you're preparing to go to college.
