How do I find work in Italy when I don't speak Italian? |
Help! I need to find work, and I need to find it fast.
I live in a small town, one hour south of Turin - Asti. I'm British but moved to Asti six months ago. I am SLOWLY learning Italian but can't seem to find an employer.
I teach english part time, but with no qualification and no work available I need another job. No tourist industry employer with touch me as my Italian is elementary. I can hold a conversation but can't, for example, work on the phone or reception desk. |

Umm I am not very sure, there are varying levels of Italian Audio and they are by far the most effective and fastest way to learn almost any language. They helped me get basic italian in a week or two, here is the free demo they have |

I really don't understand why anyone would be so arrogant and delusional that they would move to a country where they can't speak the language(s) and then expect to be successful.
I have found that people who are LOSERS in their home country are even bigger LOSERS when they move to a country where they can't SPEAK THE LANGUAGE. |

The only job you might find is teaching English. But if you "need" to stay somewhere and to find work somewhere, the first thing to do is learning QUICKLY the language.
The single person has to adapt himself to the land where he lives, not the land to the single person. It is obvious and logical. Think an Italian, or someone else, who wants to live in a village of England comparable to Asti and wants to find a job without speaking English! |

Locate a Callan school in your area - In Biella there is one but I'm not sure how far away you are. Anyway this is a language school and they train their teachers so you don't need any special qualifications. If you pass the training ( lasts one week I think) they will hire you and give you a full time job. That's how I started out here and I have been here for 20 yrs .... If you don't speak Italian all you can really do in the meantime is teach English. |

I've been to Italy and the best job you may try to get and not have to learn very much at all would be a tourist spot or tourist vendor. You could relate to all the english speaker that go there. Also, if you'll notice, the people over there can speak some English if they know you'll buy something from them or believe they have a sale. Just get a quick guide for dummies or a small interpreter guide to reference and try to learn on the job. But working in a tourist spot would be the best place for you since it's Italy is an American hotspot. |
