How do I get to Pisa from Florence?

You can buy tickets at the train station in Florence. There are manned ticket windows or machines where you can buy them. The machines have an English language option - just touch the British flag on the first screen. The cost is 6.30 euro each way. The trains to Pisa are frequent; it's an 1 hr 8 min to 1 hr 22 min trip depending on the train. Remember to validate the ticket before you get on the train (i.e., time stamp it in the yellow machine near the tracks.

I'd recommend going to Pisa to see the tower in the morning and then taking the train another 20 minutes to Lucca for the day (20 to 30 minutes; 2.30 euro). The old city within the walls is pretty interesting.

The best way to get to Pisa is to take the train. The train station in Florence is right in the center of the city, about a 10 minutes walk to the Duomo and a quick bus ride away from the Lungarni and Piazza Santa Croce!
The train station in Pisa is also pretty close to the center, you can easily walk there.
Check out the trenitalia (italian trains) website at www.trenitalia.it for time and fares.
Going by bus is more expensive and with the traffic changes in Florence it might take you a very long time, you should definitely take the train!! Have fun!!

Don't worry about booking it in advance, just go to the train station in Florence and look for a train departure time table. They're big yellow sheets (on a billboard) with "Partenze" written on top. Look for the trains going to Pisa near the time you want to leave. It will also tell you what platform (binario) it leaves from. Not sure how long it takes or how much it costs but should be less than 1 hour and very cheap. Look for regional trains (treno regionale) which are the cheapest. You can then buy the tickets at the ticket counter (personell should speak english since Florence is such a tourist destination) or at the vending machines that are multi-lingual.

Well, here there is the english page of trenitalia, you just sign the day and the time and they find for you all the trains, i think you can also book it online...

it is easy by train: there isn't a big distance between florence and pisa.
you can ask the timetable and buy the ticket at florence station.

You can buy the tickets in the Station, it takes about one hour from Florence to Pisa.it's the cheapest way.

By train, it's the easiest and probably the cheapest.

Connelly is right, visit the leaning tower in the morning and them move on to Lucca. Pisa, is a dump and it fells very shady to walk around in. Besides the tower, not much else is going on in that town, but the tower is worth the visit.

Lucca is beautiful, you'll love it.
