How do you get from Rome to Florence and Pisa? |
I am going to Rome in January, and was wondering how easy it was to get to Florence and Pisa on the train. Also, is it easy to go from Florence to Pisa, or does it take ages? |

It takes about 2 hours to get to Florence from Rome and another hour to Pisa. The Italian trains are extremely efficient and so cheap. So go for it, Pisa isnt very exciting, only the tower to see, but i highly recommend Florence - it is beautiful. |

Take the train, about 3 hours to Pisa from Rome, about 4 hours to Florence from Rome, 2 hours from Pisa to Florence. Italian trains are clean, cheap and on time. As are most of Europe, hey I just thought of a question... |

I used the train for the Florence/Pisa trip then carried on to the north west coast on the local train.
It was easy, not too long a trip and the trains were on time and efficient.
If you have not travelled by train in Italy before, know that you buy the ticket then have to get it validated at a machine in the station, just check what the locals are doing, it's easy once you see it.
Have a great trip. |

It's very easy, don't worry. I live in Pisa so you can trust me. You can catch a train to florence and it takes about an hour, it also depends on what kind of train you take. local ones stop everywhere in between so it takes longer. you don't have to change train. you can check the schedule on www.trenitalia.com which has the english version too. Remember that the main station in Pisa is Pisa Centrale (AE means Pisa airport), in florence is SMN (santa maria novella) which is in the city centre. Rome has a lot of stations but I think the main is termini (TE). it takes about four hours from rome to both florence and pisa |

You can do them all by train. The main stations are each about a mile from the sites. See http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/ for timetables. (Remember it's Roma and Firenze) |

Catch the Trenitalia from Rome to Florence. You can book online or at the station. Departs from Rome, Termini.

Oh, Florence to Pisa by coach is best. But do go to Sienna. Also by coach. All tickets from coach/bus station near the railways station in Florence. |

1/ everyone takes the train it's that easy
2/ buy your tickets when you get there no problem -- get the "fast" train w/ less stops
3/ taking the train from florence to pisa / rome is the last thing you need to worry about......
4/ it will be very cold |
