How easy from Napoli to Positano, Pompeii, Vesuvias, Sorrento? |
How easy is it to get from napoli to these places, bearing in mind it would have to be public transport. Are they do-able in one day ( I don't mean all of them in one day obviously ).
Marc spiz, cheers for your previous answer about napoli, maybe you could answer this one for me too. |

These are all pretty easy trips.
The fastest way to get to Pompeii or Sorrento is on the Circumvesuviana train. It takes 36 minutes from the Garibaldi station (a section of the main station) in Naples to the Pompeii-Scavi station which is a short walk from the entrance to the ruins at Pompeii. You should also consider Erculano on the same train line - another town buried by the eruption of Vesuvius. There's a trip planner on the Circumvesuviana website that will allow you to determine specific schedules: http://servizi.vesuviana.it/orari/orarinew2/modulow3c.htm
The same train goes to Sorrento. It takes 1 hr 7 min and costs 3.30 euro. Use the site above for planning a specific schedule. You could also take a boat or a bus to get to Sorrento.
To get to Positano, you could take the train to Sorrento and then catch the bus from there to Positano. There are one or two buses every hour toward Positano. The schedule is here (click on Quadro 15): http://www.sitabus.it/wps/portal/OrariCampania
You could also just get the Sita bus from Porta Immacolatella that goes from Naples to Positano on the way to Amalfi. The schedule for this bus is also on Quadro 15 on the site above.
Depending on when you're going to be there, you may also be able to take a boat from Molo Beverello or Mergellina to Positano.
To get to Vesuvius, you can take the Circumvesuviana train from the main station to the Erculano station. From there there is a Trasporti Vesuviani shuttle bus that goes up to the park on the mountain. The trail from there up to the crater is about a kilometer. |

they have tours from Naples to Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii, Vesuvias in that order. Hydroplane from Naples-Capri-Sorrento. Bus back to Naples via Pompeii/Vesuvius.
Check with your hotel consierge! |

A train from the central station goes directly to Pompeii. Unfortunately I can't tell you about the others... |

Are you staying in Napoli?
If so, I would consider not to.....
It is not the prettiest or safest place.
Traveling from Napoli, you can take a private car.
It is worth the money.
We hired a driver to take us to Sorrento, Positano, Ravello, Almalfi.
We did a day trip by boat to Capri - breathtaking!!!!!
These trips can be done in a day.
Pompeii and Vessuvias are very close to Naples.
Make sure to try the local lemoncello and caprese!!!
Have a great trip and take lots and lots of pics
Ciao |
