It depends how you will travel:
1)by road - using your car and choosing the shortest itinerary - it is 32 km = 19 miles.
2)by rail it can last 2 hours including three changes (train + train + bus)

Not far, Fiumicino is in the west by the sea and Ciampino is in the south. Don't bother going into Rome and out again just get a cab- they are way cheaper than in the UK.
