I certainly would not like to walk it!.

It's about 1h 20 by public transport, [31 miles] depending on the frequency of the bus from Bergamo airport into Bergamo Stazione di centrale. I think the bus runs every 30 minutes or so and takes about 20 minutes to the rail station, depending on traffic.

Ryanair provide a free, downloadable guide here:

There are frequent trains to Milan

http://trenitalia.it/en/index.html
[insert "Bergamo" and "Milano Lambrate" as your destinations.

The bus stop at Bergamo airport is just outside the arrivals terminal - there are plenty of helpful people to ask directions. I think you can buy your ticket on the bus (there may be a machine at the bus stop - the driver will help).

You can buy a train ticket at the railway station - machines are multilungual. Don't forget to insert the ticket into a validation machine or you could face a heavy fine - the validators may be found built into the ticket machines and on most platforms, machines are painted yellow.

Finally, if you found all this useful, you might like to see my travel guide to Italy below! Have a great trip.

Hi!I'm Italian I can help you (I hope so) I work in Milan. Outside the Bergamo airport you take a bus (Orio shuttle) for about 5€ one way ticket, it brings you directly in Milano Central station in about 50/60 minutes. Then you take the underground (green line) in central station (the ticket costs 1 €) direction cologno nord or gessate. You get out in Lambrate F.S. (4th stop). Have a nice time in Milan! ciao
