Car between 5 and six hours.

The drive is about 6-8 hours depending on traffic and how fast your willing to go. The cops don't really pull you over for speeding. Going 200 kmph we made it in just over 6 hours. On the way back we were going about 170kmph but we hit traffic on the A1 near Florence and that killed our time. They were doing major construction there so I'm not sure if it is done or not. Keep in mind that if you drive there is toll. The toll from Naples to Milan is expensive so from Rome to Venice will be costly to. Also gas in Italy is high as well. I would just take the train. They have overnight trains you can take and sleep on or just hop on first thing in the morning.
