from Venice train station you can easily walk to main attractions in 15-30 minutes timeframe. 15-20 minutes to the Rialto bridge (via Frari and San Rocco churches, more artistical itinerary, or via Strada Nuova, that is out of the station to the left without crossing the Grand Canal). Once you reach the Rialto (or even the Academy bridge) calculate another 15 minutes to St. Mark's square, the pidgeons square from the Academy bridge or only 5-10 minutes from the Rialto bridge.
All this timing is given without considering stops for visits and/or shopping.
If you get public transportation, vaporetto line 1 from Railway station to St. Mark's square takes about 50 minutes but it is worth the view on the enchanting Venetian palaces of the past centuries. Cost of the ticket approx 5 euro per person one way. |

I got a shock, last year when i arrived at the train station, it is right beside the canals and boat taxis..etc.
If it is very warm and packed with tourist, i recommend you take boat taxi, straight to st. Marks square walk back if money is a problem. ok |

You can walk from the S.Lucia station till St Mark's square
without taking a ferry (or without swimming....!!)
It will take abt. 40 minutes / 1 hour but you must have a good map otherwise you'll get lost. It's very easy to take wrong directions while walking Venice. |

Everything is close...and it's easy to find your way around. Don't worry, you'll see it all!
Just keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain while you're there cuz you'll have to walk on tables!
And don't eat at a restaurant right along the way; search for one down a side alley, they're much better as they don't serve "tourist" food. |

The map suggested is OK but not apsolutly necessary. Come out of the station turn left and follow the crowd.
There are a wide variety of signs, some official council others just painted on walls. Follow Per Rialto to the bridge and P. S.Marco to St Marks Sq.
On your way back you look for Ferro Via
There is one decent coffe shop close to Ponte Rialto, Cafe Aperol, you won't be ripped off there. |

Nothing is far from it. Venice is a really small city. Right outside of the Termini is the waterbus. You can take that just about everywhere. And FYI, you don't have to pay for the waterbus. They don't check. |

The train station is right in the heart of Venice. St. Marks is accross the canal and down about 6 blocks... I'd recommed just taking a water taxi down there. |
