As others have said it's COLD and can even snow, though that's rare. You might also encounter flooding in the city, but it can also be a good time for a visit - cheaper and less crowded. Enjoy!

Cold and wet. I was there for a week a couple years ago and it rained almost every day. That being said, there aren't as many tourists during that time of year so you shouldn't have to wait on as many lines to get into places.

It snows in Venice in January. I was there last year and the temperature dropped to below 32F or 0C.

It dont get hot in the north, goto go to Calabria or Sicily for the warmer weather. Probably only like 50's/60's

Venice is cold in the winter, but a great time to visit since the crowds are at a minimum! Prices seemed to drop a little as well. I spent time in there in January, I would compare it virginia's weather, although I don't remember seeing any snow in Venice, on the mainland yes, but not in Venice.

venice is cold and wet duing january they are in winter also so it can snow in venice it is futher north than the united states
