How is the Piramide area in Rome?

Safe at night? Places to eat? Places to see?
Additional Details
I mean, I am about to rent an apartment in the area to see Rome. Is the area OK to walk in (or go drinking in) at night?

Yes, take the B metro and exit circo massimo.. then you can walk or the train station ostiense...

This monument is the tomb of Caius Cestius, Praetor and Tribune of the plebeians during the reign of Emperor Augustus. Cestius, who had visited the pyramids in Egypt, decided to create one for himself as a tomb. Made in white marble, it is incorporated in the Aurelian walls. During the second half of the 17th century, while the base of the pyramid was being cleaned, various pieces of columns were found, along with marble bases with the names of the descendants of Caius Cestius engraved on them, and a bronze foot. Inside the monument, there were no precious objects, probably because a law had been passed forbidding excess luxury and the burying of gold. As a result, the gold-embroidered clothing belonging to Caius was sold, and the heirs used the money to erect the large bronze statue, of which just the foot remains.

The area is not the best.... but....

Buona Fortuna!

Piramide area is at Piramide B line underground station/bus terminal.

It's true that there is traffic 24 hours a day, but that's a general problem in Rome. It's true that the square doesn't look like an elegant place. But the vip Esquilino hill is next door.

It's really downtown: 5 minutes away from Circo Massimo area by foot; 10 minutes away from Colosseum by foot; 15 minutes away from Vatican City by bus; etc. Furthermore, it's behind Testaccio neighbourhood (5 minutes by foot), which is "the kingdom of youthes". Lots of bars, cafés, pubs, discos, clubs, restaurants, pizzerias, etc! You couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Rome.

Hope this can be helpful.

The pyramid is in the Testaccio area, at a 5 minutes` walk from the Pyramid. Testaccio is also a nightlife hotspot in Rome. There are many different nightclubs. The clubs in Testaccio are extremely trendy and much more expensive ...The area in which it was situated, the nightclub opposite was noisy at night, lots of cars and smog. Always bring a buddy with you...keep your wallet away from your back pocket...there are lots of gyspies and love to steal gold, purses and wallets...find the little "Trattoria's" very inexpensive and great home made food....By the way, do not go out at night by yourself....

Out of the way, crazy with traffic 24 hrs.a day, not safe, dark and near the underground station (always stay away from railroad, underground areas). Think you will be beter off by selecting a place elsewhere.
