How many carry-ons can i bring?

i'm traveling from jfk to fiumincino, rome to catania, sicily. i need 2 bags because last year some gifts were stolen and my bags never arrive on time so i need to bring clothes and stuff. Is a gym sized bag and a back pack ok?

Your best bet is to contact your airline or look online. That will give you the most acurate answer.

you can have 2 suitcases, one carry on (duffle bag) and a pocket book. seeing how they never say how big the pocket book can be i typically use an oversized handbag..

You can bring a carry on and a LARGE pocketbook just make sure they can fit in the overhead comparment or under you seat. I'm assuming you are flying with Alitalia? I flew to Rome and onto Palermo last year and that is what I did. Fai un buon vaggio e tanti saluti per tutta la Sicilia.

They say one "purse" and one carryon. If you can configure your gym bag to look like a purse, you'll be OK.

Check with your agent or the carrier. They differ between air lines. Also check on the allowable size.

2 suitcases not exceeding 50# each (to be checked in and make sure they do not exceed the 40# otherwise you will pay a hefty fee), a carry-on (i suggest with wheels) not to exceed 40# and the airlines also check its weight (i load it up with chocolates and chewing gums to give away as gifts because they are very expensive in italy) and a pocketbook (airlines do not specify size and weight but they consider it to be a pc carrying case). i would bring a decent size pocketbook and load it up with heavy objects (i hope you are a strong person) because it is the only luggage that the airlines do not check the weight. buon viaggio. ciao

You can bring 1 carry on and a pocketbook. I use a backpack as my carryon and put a lot of things in that. The carryon has to be small enough to fit under your seat or in the above head compartment. A gym bag and back pack are just fine. Be sure not to make it too heavy because you need to walk through the airport with this. You can even find backpacks that have wheels if you know you will be walking for a distance.

Check one and carry on the other-or make the gym bag look like a purse and keep the backpack small.
