There are 20 provinces in Italy with each province being divided into 2 or 3 sub regions with the exception of the aosta valley. in parenthesis i added the capitol of that Province)

Abruzzo (with capital L'Aquila)
Basilicata (Potenza)
Calabria (Catanzaro)
Campania (Naples, Napoli)
Emilia-Romagna (Bologna)
Friuli-Venezia Giulia* (Trieste)
Latium, Lazio (Rome, Roma)
Liguria (Genoa, Genova)
Lombardy, Lombardia (Milan, Milano)
Marches, Marche (Ancona)
Molise (Campobasso)
Piedmont, Piemonte (Turin, Torino)
Apulia, Puglia (Bari)
Sardinia*, Sardegna (Cagliari)
Aosta Valley*, Valle d'Aosta / Vallée d'Aoste (Aosta, Aoste)
Tuscany, Toscana (Florence, Firenze)
Trentino-South Tyrol*, Trentino-Alto Adige / Trentino-Südtirol (Trento, Bolzano-Bozen)
Umbria (Perugia)
Sicily*, Sicilia (Palermo)
Veneto (Venice, Venezia)

italy is a great place with incredible culture and sights. I would deffinetelly reccomend visiting atleast once, especially sicily, where the people speak different and have a different cultuer to mainlanders.

-anyway stay cool and Peace out

Instead of writing the information requested; I'll include the link so you look it up yourself at http://www.italiantourism.com/

The link will give you information on all regions of Italy, and the provinces within each region.

luca l
not correct, he/she gave you the list of the REGIONS, the provinces are more than 100, http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lista_delle_province_italiane

speakeasy gave you a great suggestion.
if you also wanna check this, you'll also find flags for each region a map and a table list divided in regions containing the names of all italian provinces. unfortunately is in italian.
