Real good things "made in Italy" are not cheap, of course imported ones would be expensive, too, expecially famouse brand like Levi's ...
But there's not many of store filled with "made in China/Bangladesh ...) stuff like cheap Wal-Mart, Costco, Sam Club, either. Average pricing is about things you find at JC Penny, Belk, Dillard's, Nordstrom ...BUT Italian instyle designs and also mostly fine material are what it worth the price. One more very worthy issue is every piece of cloth you find there would be almost unique one, every shop sells difference - you would hardly see other person wear the same what you wear, because there's not many big chain stores, except few ones. |

I think it depends on what part of Italy you are in. For sure, Milan is more expensive than other parts of Italy! But, I agree with Juliet. Yea, you can get really expensive Italian, hand made shoes and have to pay alot, but they also have malls and such with cheaper prices. |

It depends on the time of year you choose to purchase. The best times to buy are right after the seasons end. The best bargains are after Christmas when the stores reduce the prices to 50% or less in order to make way for spring fashions. If you want reduced summer fashions, shop in the fall. I've purchased a lot of accessories off-season for practically nothing. With the Euro doing so well against the USD nothing is really cheap these days. |

Clothes in Italy are so expensive that italians travel abroad (like USA)with empty luggage and shop untill they drop in USA to then return to Italy loaded. For example in Italy a pair of (real)LEVIS jeans coasts anywhere brtween 100$ and 150$ DOLLARS and not even in fancy stores.... |

I have to agree with all of them. EXPENSIVE!!! Their idea of cheap-ish clothes (as in like what we think of Gap or Old Navy) is United Colors of Benetton where a simple tee costs at least 50 dollars. Clothes, food, housing, anything in Italy is very expensive. |
