How much do decent hotels cost? |
I am going to Italy in early July with a friend of mine and I am wondering how much it will cost for 10 nights of hotel stay? Do you think it's possible to spend 100 dollars a night or less per person? Also, do you think we could get rooms at the cost that have air conditioning? Additional Details I am going to Milan, Venice, Florence & Rome in that order. |

You don't say in which city, but it's possible to find good cheap hotel for less (a bit less, since dollar is just now very weak, compared to euro) than 100 $; generally, two stars hotels, some three stars. I've been in different hotel whit a rate of 70 to 90 dollars (at current conversion) for a single room, all of them with air conditioning.
Where are you going? Cheaper and good hotel usually get full very soon, just because they're good and cheap.
Edit
As for Milan, there is the city I recommend you to book as soon as possible; it's always easy to find an accommodation, but for cheaper one I always got problem even booking one months and a half before...
Less problem for Florence and Rome.
I can suggest you to take a look at http://www.venere.com and read the reviews; they're really helpful I did used it during last seven years (you can find info about services provided by hotels, including air conditioning). Personally, alas I can only suggest you Hotel Genesio in Florence, fifteen minutes (walking) from main railway station.
Double-twin room are now listed 92 € (total, not for person) for night, air-conditioning included. |

Florence will be more expensive than the others...or at least thats what I found (I ended up staying about a 50min bus ride from the centre of town to get somewhere cheap!!).
Rome has a bit more range...I remember paying about 50GBP per night there (3 star).
At that time of year there may be more people and more demand on hotels, so try some websites too look at possible options (see some links below for a start sometimes you have to shop around).
Venice can be varied in price too.... |
