How much does a pint of beer cost in Turin, Italy? |
I am going on holiday to Turin in a couple of weeks and need to know how much money to take. As most of my expenditure will be on beer then this is pretty indicative of how much I will need to take.
Just a rough figure or an average would be good. In € or £ please. |

As mentioned above, Italy uses the metric system. A beer might cost you EUR 3 at a regular bar (the kind you would go to at lunch for a sandwich, not the kind you'd sit at for hours with your friends), EUR 5 at a wine bar (where you'd go in the evening after dinner or before going to a disco) and between EUR 7 -10 at a disco (where drinks are always overpriced).
Probably the cheapest disco in Turin is Giancarlo, which is by the Murazzi. Ask any local... it's famous for being so low-class! When I lived in Turin (last year) Rock City had an all-you-can-drink night, which I believe was Wednesday. If you want to party somewhere a bit nicer, Teatro in the city center (near Piazza San Carlo) is probably the cleanest, best-smelling bar in the city while Hennessey is the place where Turin's rich kids go to seen and be seen (outside of the city in the hills across the river). If you go back in the summer, don't miss Cacao in Parco Valentino. It's totally outdoors and great fun.
If you just want to drink and not dance, check out Chocowine (Via Botero 8, just off Via Garibaldi in the center) for local wines at great prices. Their customers are mainly 20-somethings. L'Obelix in Piazza Savoia has amazing blended-fruit cocktails (if you go around 6:30 your drinks comes with free access to the buffet). La Drogeuria in Piazza Vittorio Veneto also has good drinks and a free buffet (about 6:00-9:00) that young men love- lots of pizza and other greasy things!
If you want more info about what to see and do in Turin, see the website that I made about my favorite spots in the city. |

Average for a good one is 3-3.50 euro, if in restaurants, pubs, etc; in superstores, about 1 euro per pints (although usually not sold in pints :) |

I would guess 3 - 4 Euro for a litre. Drink wine, it will be cheaper. Better yet, go the grocery store and buy wine for 1 Euro a bottle. |
