How much money?

Anyone have an estimate on how much it cost to go to Italy for a week to a week and a half? I'm in Chicago and I know it won't be cheap, just looking for some rough estimates. I'd like to visit Florence, Milan, Venice, maybe Rome. Feel free to comment on places you enjoy and recommend. Thanks

I go to italy twice a year.. It depends on how u like to travel. Because of the dollar exchange and how expensive europe has become I would suggest to travel off peak season or at least semi off peak season to get the best value for your money. This would be anywhere from January to Mid May or Mid September to Mid December. Tickets can run about 500-650 round trip.(try Alitalia or Continental)
Begining of October is great! Its not hot its not cold and hotel stays are cheaper.
Just to save you money right off the bat skip Milan! Besides the Duomo there is nothing else to see and its super dirty!
For Venice I would suggest Hotel Paganelli. Its a 3 star hotel in the heart of Venice with reasonable prices. Florence 3 star hotel Basilea Hotel. Rome m thats a hard one I havent stayed a hotel which I really liked to recommend.
If you want to get a real gasp of Italy with a city with little amounts of tourist try Bologna! Albergo Garisenda.
How much do you need per day? Well before you travel you would know how much you need for the Hotel. Try www.trenitalia.com for the travel cost via train. Look at the ES prices. It cost a bit more but its faster and since you dont have too much time then I would go that route. It cost to eat about 80 dollars a day with the euro exchange being so expensive.

Hope this Helped! Viva Italia! and have a great trip!
