How much more expensive is the Gucci line in Italy than in the United States? |
I'm going to Milan and Rome early in June and am interested in buying a Gucci purse since there will be much more selection in Italy than in the US. Does anyone know what the price differential tends to be between Gucci USA and Gucci Italy?
I'm probably not making myself clear, but maybe this will make sense...if a purse (or any gucci product for that matter) is $1500 here, how much would it be in Italy?
Thanks soo much in advance!!!!
sbienick Additional Details ok i should probably clarify...
when i say if a specific gucci purse is $1500 in the US i'm not interested in how many Euros it would cost, but how much that exact same purse would cost in italy in American dollars. Does Gucci have price control, are the products less expensive because they are manufactured there? Are they more expensive because there is higher demand? |

hi! I live in Milan and I can say that gucci is soooo expensive!
anyway, to see how much does gucci product cost in italy, go to this page:
http://www.gucci.com/it/italian/gucci-by-gucci/
click on "acquista online" (buy online) and there you'll find all the product you need and thetr prices (in euros, you know this is the currency we have in italy, go to this page if you want to check how many dollars they are: http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html ). i dont know what kind of purse would you like to buy, but there are clear images in this site, so even if you don't speak italian, you would be able to find it!
bye |

This is not as easy to answer as it may seem. The problem is that, just as in the U.S., prices vary from store to store and city to city. If the exchange rate were relatively equal, then I would say that you would pay roughly the same amount in Rome than you would in, for example, Los Angeles or New York. But since the exchange rate is so bad right now, then it would be more expensive to buy one in Italy. Using your example, if you found a purse in the U.S. for $1500.00 and the exact same purse in Rome, it would have to cost 1,024 Euros to be comparable. But you most likely would not find one for that amount there. It may be closer to $2,200.
This is very difficult since they started using the Euro. I used to live in Italy and prior to living there used to visit Rome often to shop. Back then I used to buy Gucci products for less than half of what I could buy it for in the U.S. and it was a great deal! But those days are gone - so just be prepared to pay more in Italy than you would pay in the U.S. right now. |

you'll be paying a lot more!!!!!
for luxuary goods you have to shop in Lisboa or Dublin!!! things tend to be a bit cheaper!!! than in tourist infested areas such as rome.. piazza spagna(gucci) or milano , vittorio emanuelle galleria(gucci).. |

It should cost about 1025.00 euros.
The present conversion rate is:
US$1.00 = €0.68
€1.00=US$1.46
figures rounded off
But know that it all depends on what the actual cost for the bag is in Italy. |
