How much spending money would you recommend for a week in Rome?

Not including money for accommodation, but for food/sight seeing/ getting around etc.

Thanks

I think 350 euros are more than enough for one person; consider that going to restaurant costs a medium average of 20 euro per person; public transportation is really cheap and entrance ticket for museums are about 10 euro. save your money for shopping!:-)

I t depends on what time you prefer to eat your evening meal. If you go to a high end restaurant (wine, soup, salad, entre, dessert, after dinner cappuccino, etc) plan on at least
Euro $ 200 ($ 310 US) or more (for two) for one meal. One Euro = $ 1.55 US. Use the smaller sidewalk cafes, sandwich shops, etc. or restaurants on the side streets. Stay away from the main tourist areas. Make sure you read the menus posted outside the restaurants to estimate what the costs will be.

Getting around? Get a city map and use the metro whenever you can. Also, check with your concierge about tours. With the Euro at $ 1.55 study everything and its related costs.

I've done Rome dirt cheap - and will be doing it dirt cheap again in 2 weeks time. Don't eat in restaurants, limit yourself to a couple of museums, see as much free stuff as possible (churches are free), don't go on a 'tour' of the Forum - its free to get in to.

There are so many ways to be a tightwad in Rome, just don't fall for any tourist traps and have fun! Its a magnificent city - one of the greatest cities in the world.

400 or at most 500 euros for each person will be enough. A ticket for a museum, archaelogical site, art expo etc. costs between 5 and 10 euros, and Rome is full of wonderful churches that you can visit totally free.
If you have meals in elegant restaurants a complete meal (first course of pasta + main course of meat or fish with vegetables + dessert + wine + coffee) would cost even 100 euros each; in cheap restaurants (called "trattoria") 20 to 50 euros; a meal in pizzerias (usually pizza + beer + dessert) 10 to 15 euros. In most pizzerias you can have pasta instead of pizza. Wine and fish are particularly expensive. Some restaurants offer meals with "prezzo fisso" (fixed price) which is normally cheap. You can find everywhere sandwiches and "pizza a taglio" (slices of pizza that one can eat like sandwiches) which cost between 2 and 4 euros and are particularly suitable for lunch.
Bus and subway tickets cost 1 euro. Taxis are expensive.
Shopping would be frightfully expensive if you look for the famous brands of clothing, but souvenirs are relatively cheap.

Very difficult, if you're in Rome doing touristy type things, the sky's the limit: If you're in the popular areas, expect to pay ten euros for coffee, a hundred for an average meal for two, etc., etc., but stay off the beaten track & it can be very affordable if you hang out where the locals do.

I would personally bring between 700 and 1500 euro depending on what all you plan on doing/buying.

I was in Rome about 5 years ago for 3.5 days and between my brother and I both we spent about 200 euro. We stayed in an apartment though and cooked all of our meals, taking sandwiches and snacks with us for the day. If you are staying in a hotel then I would say anywhere from 800-1000 euro for meals, sight seeing, getting around. We also walked a lot that way you get to see more of the city. Have fun, Rome is one of my favorite places in the world, you're going to love it.
