How much will two days in Rome cost? |
I will be in Rome for about 1 1/2 days and two nights. Has anyone been there recently that can tell me how much I can expect to pay for the basic things... round trip on train from FCO airport to city, an ok hotel, the important sight seeing things, metro rides, a few moderate meals?
Also is there any fees for entering or leaving the country for an American?
Thanks guys! |

Rome public transportation and Rome Metro:
The Rome Metro costs 1Euro per trip, or alternatively you can buy a day ticket for 4 Euros. Try this page http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/public-transportation-in-rome-italy.html for more info on ticket prices and the other types of public transportation in Rome.
This page http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/rome-metro.html will give you more info about the Rome Metro.
Hotels in central Rome (also searches hostels, B&B's etc):
This page http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/hotels-in-central-rome.html will give you advice about where to be, what to check etc. and this page (NB) http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/central-rome-hotels.html will give you advice on how to best use HotelsCombined.com (searches and compares prices for thousands of central Rome hotels) to get the best possible prices.
(A good source of info are the previous guests comments - they call a spade a spade!)
Rome restaurants and Rome restaurant guide:
Try this page http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/rome-restaurants.html for a Rome restaurant guide - what are the types of restaurants -trattorias, pizzerias, ristorante etc. , where to eat? what time to eat? etc
Getting to and from Fiumicino Airport:
Your best bet is the Leonardo express (train) , it costs 11 Euros/trip and departs every 30 minutes. It's a direct connection (no stops).
Check out this page http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/rome-international-airport.html for more information about the Leonardo express (times, where etc) and getting to and from the airport (also known as Rome International Airport).
Other than the tax we all pay on our airfare Rome has no tourist taxes. Although Venice, I believe, have a tourist tax which is added onto your hotel bills and certain methods of transport.
I can give you some daily figures but I thought the best is for you to see for yourself and judge where you would like to stay, what you would like to do and to what comfort level you would like to do both.
Enjoy it (though it's tough not to get blown away by Rome!) |

I went to rome on a vacation this summer. Its a reasonable price for hotels, but prices of food, and other things are quite pricy since the euros are stronger than the dollar. There are no fees for leaving the country.
I had a great time in rome and I hope you enjoy your visit! (: |

No fees for american.
the train from FCO to Termini (center of rome) its about 8Euro each.
"moderate meals"....this depends where you want to eat, there are cheap Mcdonalds to really expensive one. An average is 10-15 for lunch and 20 for dinner.
Hotels or Bed&breakfast: the price depends where they are and the quality. http://www.venere.com/search/?geoid=3425&ref=1767&lg=en&cur=USD&type=C&kwp=6005-15-1 this is the best (for me..) website to choose the hotel. |

A decent hotel starts at about 100 euros a night.
RT from the airport to Termini Station on the Leonardo Express is 11 euros each way.
Attractions (sight seeing) are about 10-20 euros - but many are free to look at from the outside (like the Colosseum).
Breakfast and lunch are 5-10 euros and dinner is 10-20 euros.
Bottles of water in the grocery store are 6 for 2 euros and are up to 3 euros each on the street. |
