Stan is right. You don't need to buy tickets very far in advance here most of the time - the biggest exception is Easter which just passed. The schedule changes in June and December and it takes a while to get the schedules and prices posted on the website. Typically, you can buy tickets 60 days in advance. with rare exceptions, I just buy tickets on the day I want to travel. |

Train options from june too october (summertime tabletime) are not yet ready. U can book yr ticket from 14 june or at ticket office or agency. |

Between major cities like Rome and Naples you don't need to make reservations and the prices are static so you aren't going to get a break paying as early as possible or waiting until the last minute.
If you are concerned you can stop at the train station a day or two in advance and get tickets at that time. Trenitalia will let you purchase tickets about 50 days in advance. |
