How to get from Ciampino Airport to Tuscolana Station in Rome?
I've never been to Rome (or Italy), so could anyone give me any pointers on the best way to get from Ciampino Airport to Tuscalana Station? I would prefer to use public transport but I think that it would have to be the train as I think the metro is shut by the time I land (8.30pm). Any tips of using public transport in Rome would also be greatly appreciated (e.g. how to buy tickets) as I know there are different tickets systems etc... Thanks
I will presume it is tuscolana metro station you want to get to as you are afraid the metro is closed. (there is also a train station called tuscolana)
when you come out of the terminal building in ciampino, there are 3 white buses in front of you. one of the first 2 will be going to anagnina. take this one. it is €1 and €1 for a large suitcase. this bus runs until 11 o clock at night.
when you get to anagnina, go downstairs and get the metro to tuscolana station. the metro runs until 11.30 and if they are working on the line there will be bus instead serving the exact same stops. (i cant remember which line they are working on at the moment but there is DEFINITELY a replacement bus)
the best ticket to buy is called a BIG ticket. they cost you €4 and allow you unlimited travel on the tram, metro and city buses for the whole day (up to midnight on the day of validation). they are excellent value and i recommend buying one for yourself in the evening for use the following day cos they dont sell them at tram stops but do at metro stops, so if your hotel is at a tram stop, you just jump on in the morning and validate it, you dont have to walk to buy one which is defeating the purpose.
feel free to email me if you need anything else

I haven't flown into that airport in a few years, but as far as I remember ther was a fairly regular bus service into the city centre. Can't remember where eexactly it went to , but once you're in the city you can easily get wherever you need to go. Try this website it might give you more info: http://www.adr.it/content.asp?L=3&idmen=200

From Ciampino there are few buses going to the central station Termini, (http://www.terravision.eu/)
from Termini take the BUS line MA1 (sobstitution of the metro line) to PONTE LUNGO from Ponte Lungo you can easly walk to Tuscolana Station
