actually...it depends....if u meet some1 u say "buongiorno!",but if u'r leaving and u want to wish "a nice morning further" u say "buona giornata" even if "giorno" and "giornata" mean both "day" eheh.....
morning is "mattina2 in italian,but we don't say "good morning",we say "good day" meaning morning.....
once 12 r passed u'r supposed to be saying "buona sera" or "buon pomeriggio".....sera would be better to be said after 4pm,but no one is gonna mind u using it earlier :) |

" Buongiorno"...Many time you will hear also "ben alzata signorina " It means " I hope you have had a good rising.miss " It is a kind wish...We use this at breakfast or when we see a person coming out his bed-room...
But after an our don't use this word...In shops an in all occasions is bettar use " buongiorno" so you are in safe !!
