Italians generally love Americans and treat us very well. The chances of getting ripped off in Rome are no more than in any large American city.

Very well but they treat their food and their art very seriously. If you can speak a little Italian you stand a better chance of not getting ripped off.

Generally fantastic. I've been there twice and have found them to be some of the friendliest people going around in Europe. Treat them and their customs with respect, be friendly and you'll have no problems and want to go back many more times.

I've family that went and they had no complaints. It helped they did some research before going and knew the language and customs a bit. I would suggest you do the same.
