How would you describe the people of Rome? |
I know you can't generalize such a large group of people and that it would be ignorant to do so, as there is good and bad people everywhere. But, I'm going to be staying there for a few months next year and I'm just wondering what it's going to be like. The other big cities that I've been to (NYC and Paris), the people tended to be a bit rude and pushy.
Thanks for the answers! I'm very excited. From what I've read and seen in books/movies, Italy is a fabulous place :-) |

I've been to Milan and Rome a couple of times and I've found that Italians are the friendliest and funnest people out there.
The first answerer is right in that they are romantics. I would just walk around the street and some of the Italian guys would say how "beautiful" I was how and some even gave me a free rose lol.
They also know how to party. I was in rome on new years eve and everyone was drunk and partying hard (both young and old!)
Don't be intimated by their loud voices and personalities because I think the Italian language is just like that.
Oh and alot of the Italian men are extremely well dressed :) |

our experience in Rome was wonderful. The people were warm & friendly, most always ready to engage in conversation. Its a diverse population. All in one day we went from visiting the Vatican to watching a Gay Pride Parade LOL Then that nite watched Italian Futbol <soccer> at an Irish or mayb it was Scottish pub after sending some emails at the nearest Inetrnet Cafe. Italians in general r pretty grounded and even tho Rome is a fairly lg city the people hav a more rural friendly attitude. But beware France if u dont like that Haughty NYC attitude. Parisians have a superiority complex and it shows! |

Well, Latinos are very different of Americans. People from Rome are a kind of Latino people because their language is from Latin, like mine. They usually are outgoing, they speak Italian loud, they are romantics when they see a beautiful girl, and like all Latinos they love their family. |

italy is BEYOND fabulous. the people are definitely less rude and pushy than nyc and paris... but everyone is different. the people are also much warmer here. all cities have rude people, but out of the countries i have visited [i've been to every continent... well, except for antartica, haha], italy has been the most embracing to foreigners. HAVE FUN! |

I am roman and work in a hotel; I have to admit that my guests usually envy me for living in Rome, as they say it's one of the world's most beautiful cities, but my opinion is that you love this place only when you're here for a short period of time, because when you start living for long time you get in touch with many unpleasent things. traffic jams, public transportation which is inefficient, delays.... but it's my hometown, so I love it... |
