I find the Italian language interesting .That's why I'm learning it now! Also many Italian men are sexy and handsome

If you mean the world is laughing because of the political situation, well, no... that's just how Italy is, and there's nothing surprising about yet another Italian government collapsing. I do wonder sometimes how Italy functions with its turbulent short-term governments, but well, life does go on there and the rest of the world draws massively on Italian culture no matter what -- your food, art, wine, architecture, clothes, shoes, cars, music, opera.

I do feel very very sorry for the residents of Napoli though, what with the inability of the city to have proper refuse collection. If the national government was stronger you'd think they could send in a task force or something to sort it all out!

I love italy, I have been making vacations with my parents in Italy for 18 years (always Siena in the Tuscany) it is so wonderfull, the countryside, the food, the city, the Palio, the people...Fantastic

Italy is one place i would love to go. But as of yet have not had the chance. One day i hope. It is just a beautiful contry with history.

i luv italy! I went over the summer and I just loved everything about it. The people were so friendly, the food is amazing and the fashion is just awesome.

Well, I know of two (USA) family members that have decided to learn Italian. Not for business, but for love and fun. the language is beautiful, everyone knows that. Most people I know think of fabulous food and incredible art when they think of Italy.

The negative stereotypes would be men that are too forward, sexually, with women, not enough respect for women. Also that economically Italy hasn't been doing well. I suppose there's the idea that people make business decisions based on personal relationships more than merit or practical reasons - Americans wouldn't like this attitude.

Italy has an incredible old culture. American kids learn in school about the history of Rome, and that our own democracy owes a lot to that, to the ideas of the Roman senate and republic.

I'd ignore the people who say that the world is laughing. they're only displaying their own ignorance and insecurities.

I have spent the last 4 years of my life, 'working' as a travel photographer, and I think that Italy is the most culturally refined country in the world. This includes Fashion, Art & Design, Architecture, Food , Wine and History. The great thing about Italy, is that it as not been Americianised. America is the cespit of the world, and now their oil as run out they are nothing. Unfortunately the Italian economy is not very strong, probably because Italians are a bunch of lazy B A S T A R D S. They have a range of clothing B A S T A R D proudly made by those lazy Italians, and when I was in Milan purcashed the most stylish 'top' I have ever seen. The world is full of contridictions.

Food is yummy, culture wonderful, people on the whole very friendly and passionate. Don`t go to Naples though.

Italy, a wonderful land, people, culture, and even a good stable political and economic system. I think most Americans prefer Italy over France.

Unfortunately the French have created themselves a huge money making industry by romanticing their culture and Paris, which I think is just a total money making scheme.

Italian langauge is just a beautiful as French. Italian cooking is just a delicious as French. Italian music is just a good as French. Italy is full of history, just like France. Italy has romantic places like Florence. Italy has fashionable places like Milan.

I am so sick of the world romanticing about France, when Italy is just as good if not better, and the Italians are not arrogantly rubbing **** in Americas face like France sometimes does. You Italians need to get the word out, that Italy is the better choice to come spend your tourist dollars, not France. Get those Japanese tourist to come to Italia !

What's to think? From what I know, Italy is beautiful and full of history. I want to live there when I'm older and more settled. How is it there? Do you like it? How would you compare it to California?

When I think of italy ..... Transportation strikes, dirty cities, careless employees, expensive cities not worth it, tourist infested places such as Roma, Firenze, Venezia....BAD salaries...

I love the country but it has many problems. From lack of trash collection in Naples to poverty. Many Italians live from 1000 euros a month. What a pity!
