Italy has an interesting history, unique culture, and world famous cuisine. What's not to like?

Trish
Ciao! Spent three years in Sicilia :) Absolutely loved it there and the people were the warmest Europeans I'd met in a long time (I come from German descent). I lived close to Mt Etna and my neighbors accepted me readily and wholeheartedly into their familia! I would have retired in Sicily had my son not wanted to return to the USA.

you have seriously crazy drivers!

I visited Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice & Pisa while in Italy. I thought that your drivers were crazy and willing to hit people, but it is a beautiful country with lots of lovely culture. Personally I found Italians to be friendly and helpful people. I love you guys!

Well, Italy is absolutely beautiful, take Rome for example. I'm going this summer and I can't wait!!
I find Mediterranean people in general quite loud ( I live in Spain and its normal to shout, but I don't know wether its the same in Italy?)
But Italian is a beautiful language, much more beautiful than Spanish, so you should be proud to speak it!!
xx

I LOVE Italy !! The people there are great, and there is no direction one can look that doesn't hold a beautiful view. They've got it all. Art, scenic beauty, culture, wonderful people, you name it. When one rides the boat over to Sorrento from Naples, there is an enclosed stairway up through a cliff to climb. On one landing there is a painting that was done in the 1600's. How many generations of kids have walked past that painting without vandalizing it ??? In Naples itself, there are tracks worn into the cobblestone street by donkey carts, ruts six inches or so deep.
It all adds up to living history. And the young ladies are so pretty it takes the breath away.

Considering the fact I am 75% Italian ( and hold dual-citizenship) I love them, and I LOVE Italy. My dads family is Italian, and he and his entire side of the family live in Rome. My husband and I try to go back 2 or 3 times a year, but with two young kids, flying and customs are a nightmare. But I am trying to convince my husband to move to Italy, I would love to raise my kids back there. My grandparents just "handed" down the land they own in Italy to me.

Lots of great climbing and skiing, good food, gorgeous women, great culture and architecture, dont find the driving to bad either, the people do seem to get dirtier the further south you go, by that i mean more fly tipping rubbish at the side of the road etc, and i cannot figure out why you have had so many governments since the war, but overall a great place!!

Purple triangle
There are good and bad in all nations, but unfortunatly my experience of Italians hasnt been at all good.

When britains think of European coutries they often refer back to the second world war if they have no direct experience with the country - and Italians were considered to be cowards during the war - in fact there is a joke which asks how many gears an Italian tank has, the answer being 4, 1 forward and 3 reverse. Personally I like rural Italy a lot and have spent many enjoyable summer months there.

strano che nessuno ci abbia ancora dato dei mafiosi!!! ahahah
