I'm going to Italy - Amalfi coast this summer, is it a good idea to wear shorts/miniskirts on nights out?

or just around the towns during the day? I will be with my parents mostly at all times anyway, is there anything to be worried about, because it does get quite hot there so wearing long clothes there would probably NOT be a good idea but people say that some local boys can be extremely pervy - true?

Only if you don't mind being pinched here and there. The Italian boys can be quite forward.

Enjoy the Amalfi coast! It's beautiful over there!

Italian guys will undoubtably hit on you, but they would even if you were wearing a garbage bag. Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing, unless you REALLY look like a prostitute your not likely to run into any problems. If anyone is a little too enthusiastic just say "Lasciami in pace!" phoenetically, "la-sha-mi in pa-chey" with the emphasis on "la" and "pa" (put a little force into it though or it won't be very believable). Have a good time!

I think that during the day, they tend to look at you funnier than they do at night... the Italians are very fashion conscious.

Well, you can get pervy guys everywhere, so wear what you like, obviously without looking like a slut, since you will be with your parents, it should be fine.

Italian men are no different from blokes anywhere in the world...perhaps abit more cheeky when hanging with their mates. We all enjoy looking at a beautiful girl...no harm in looking, just dont touch..dress as you are comfortable and have a wonderful time, spesh Positano and Capri (stay the night here, not the same as a day tripper)

I only say that today in Italy there are 30 - 34°C...and we are in june!!! in july and august it's not better...

Doll245
Holidayed in italy quite a bit, the italians are well dressed and fashonable so were what u normally would. As for the guys they are not pervy just a lot more 4ward than uk men esp if u are blonde or a red head!

If you have no aversion to some "Pinchy Winchy", no problem.

wear what you want. honestly, i would wear sundresses to cover your bottom half more, if you know what i mean. otherwise, you'll catch the guys staring at that region. they'll stare at you even if you're with your parents. dresses are also more appropriate for dinner.

We do not pervy. We are only giving nice to pretty girls that we see.

Don't wear mini skirts. however wearing a Fairly short skirt is fine. But italian men are just like all other men in the world. You would seem a slut if you were to wear a mini skirt. I have neapolitan relatives and stay with them often and i know the views and ways neapolitans think. Napul m manc!!

No we in Italy is summer usually wear burka...
where do you think we are here...on the moon?
just pathetic and racist....stay there where you are....fed up really of this bunch of ignorant racists over here....stay there with the fantastic drunk chavs you are used to...

zafir
Mini-skirts or a sundress will be OK, but don't wear the shorts out at night or you really will get some unwanted attraction.

I'm a college student, just studied in Italy for the year, honestly Italians will hit on you even if you have a mask on-they harass literally anything that walks. During the day the Italian women will most likely give you dirty looks if you're wearing a skirt/shorts (they hate it because italian men are so obsessed with american girls) but at night it's fine! good luck and have fun, amalfi is gorgeous =)
