I'm going to Italy this Summer, Any Place that I just have to go?

I love art. Thats the main reason i'm going. If theres anything you know about that is really cool, let me know. I don't mean things like the vatican museums, i already know about all those. Something That you would only know about if you have been to Italy. And if you could tell me where I could research these things, that would be great!!!

the uffizi in florence... this is a major site, but not to be missed if you're into art...

I lived just outside Venice for a year and the Guggenheim Collection was really cool. I think it is pretty well know, but still fun! Also, if you go into the moutains, you can see painters at work painting street seens and such. (Well, most of the time. More so in the spring/summer then the colder seasons I suppose!)

Have fun in Italy!

Next to Rome you should have seen Florence and Venice. Especially Palazzo Ducale (or Dogen-Palace) in Venice is very good. And something that´s better than every picture in a museum is the landscape in Italy. Don´t forget to look at this, cuz the nature is s.th. Italy offers to you for low.

The Peti Palace in Florence. Has the largest collection of non-anonymous women artists. However, I recommend the following tidbit when gathering destinations: Less is more. Americans have a bad reputation for being one-city-one-night travelers and Italy's a huge place.

I loved Sienna. It is a great stop between Rome and Florence. Its a small, walled-in city atop a hill in Tuscany. You feel like you have gone back in time. I was there in the spring, though, it may be much more croweded during the summer.
