I am English but I have lived in Italy twice - once in Padova and once in Roma. One day I hope to return. For now, I am stuck in Saudi Arabia - a country more different to Italy you could never find!
Abingdon, the town in England I used to live in had civic links (tipo gemellata) to Lucca, just down the road from you. So I used to go there nearly every year. I still have friends there even now and I am returning in July to go to a big Italian wedding. Non vedo l'ora!
I've only been to Florence once (che vergogna..!), but I am keeping the best until last! My mother, mad woman that she is, goes there on day trips (from Oxford..!!) with her friends to look at the art and eat ribollita.
I hope they take care of the city because it's the most beautiful I have ever seen.
One question: Are you tired of people from outside Florence asking you to say "Hoha Hola"? |

I've been all over, but only three times to Italy - Rome, Naples and Limone on Lake Garda. All were absolutely mind-bogglingly wonderful, but all were tourist destinations. The Amalfi coast is particularly gorgeous.
Italy is my favourite holiday destination.
I have liked Italians very much since 1970 when Carlo and Agostino opened Salon 70 (hairdressing) in Sunderland, and Pizzeria Pinnochio opened - the first Italian restaurant in Sunderland. Happy days! |

I love Italian people, I have been to Sardinia / Sardegna and traveled through the north of Italy to get onto Sardinia. Italy is great, good food and passionate (but the heat makes everyone crazy for or something) people. I love and loved it! |
