I like Caffe Sabatino - Via Faenza 68/r 50123 Firenze
http://www.caffesabatino.it/index.htm.
They are friendly and in a convenient location. They also have an "American" style breakfast *(eggs, bread, ham, etc) if you're not into eating pastries for breakfast.

Try one of their cappuccino's they have a neat sort of leaf imprint in the foam. Just a side note - Italians don't usually drink cappuccinos past noon because it is considered a breakfast coffee but it hasn't stopped me from doing it. They also have sandwiches, etc.

As far as pubs I usually get enough of house wine with dinner that I don't usually frequent them. However, the San Niccolo neighborhood, on the other side of the Arno river-Oltrarno has lots of bars and eateries.

This site also has lots of listings of pubs.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi!
In Florence you can enjoy different kind of pubs or cafes.
You'll probably like "The William" pub in the historical centre of Florence.
http://www.thewilliam.it/index2.html this is the official web site. Take a look at the link.
I advice you also some nice cafes situated in the centre of the city.
The best for me is the historical restaurant/café"LE GIUBBE ROSSE" situated in Piazza della Repubblica 13/14r - 50123 - Firenze

Tel : +39 055 212280 - Fax : +39 055 290052

E-mail : info@giubberosse.it

I'm sure you will enjoy these locals.

Have a nice trip!!

Oh yes. You must go to QUINTO resturant. Very friendly. Then there is IL CAVALLINO, in Signoria Square (center of Florence) where you can eat delicious meat. Don't forget to taste Florence ice-creams (if you are with someone talking italian its better .. you will, usually, pay them a bit less :o)

Tara C
I can definitely recommend ZaZa. The soup is phenominal.
