Hi, you should know that the list of places to visit in Italy may be very long. It depends on how long you are planning to stay.
You cannot miss Florence, Rome and Venice. That's for sure. And you should also consider a short trip to Pisa to see the leaning tower. it's one hour only from Florence. If by fun you mean nightlife you can go to Viareggio, 40 minutes by car from Pisa. This is where people go on saturday night (not only on saturday..) to have fun. It's full of discotheques, restaurants and pubs, and youngs..
You could go yo the Amalfi coast in the south. It's very beautiful. If you like beaches and the sea you could also go to the Cinque Terre, Liguria. Ther you can find small nice typical villages like Portofino and Levanto.
We have two wonderful lakes in the north, Como and Garda. I prefer Como lake but I advise you Garda as you can add a trip to Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet. You can still admire the balcony of Juliet there. Mantova and Padova are nice cities too, still in that area. They worth a visit. In the middle of Italy there are Perugia and Assisi, the town of San Francesco. The basilic is wonderful. Another nice village is San Marino. it's a small place on the top of a hill with narrow tiled roads. Very nice and very old. Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra in Tuscany are nice places too especially the country around Siena. It's typical and you won't find anything like that anywhere.
bye bye

P.S. I'm italian, live in Pisa.

I think that you should all drop by Venice. That city is amazing, maybe get a gondola ride, have a canal-side dinner if you're into that sort of thing. Try Rome, see the Coliseum (Colosseum), maybe take that famous picture where you look like you're holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa (in Pisa mind you, not Rome.) Get some authentic Italian spaghetti (and/or other pastas) and some real Italian pizza. I am 100% Italian and have been to Italy a few times, even though I am still a teenager. I definately reccommend the food part, but if you are accustommed to American-Italian food, such as American Pizza, I can't guarantee you'll love the food the first time you eat it, but give it a try. Have fun in Italy!

I'm Italien, and I would advice you milions of places: if you go to Italy, you MUST go to Venice, but you also should visit Florence (Italien: Firenze), Rome, Naples, Torino and Genova; that's all about cities. If you like sea you can go to Sardinia, or to Sicilia (I don't know the english for it!), to Puglia; in short, go to the south. For the mountain, I naturally advice you to go to the north, but also Appennini are beautiful.
So, I hope you'll have a great journey in the wonderfull Italy!!!

You should repost with the cities you want to visit so we can be more specific. But, my favorite city for eating has to be Naples, so be sure to ask your conceirge for restaurants that locals visit. For shopping, I love Milan as it has the greatest number of shops that don't rip you off, like in Rome. For scenery, I love Cortina d'Impezzo in the Italian Alps.

LL
u have to visit mainly rome and venice...but if you have the time you should visit florence

lovetuscany
if you are travelling to Tuscany, you shouldn't miss the most inmportant city Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, but also the countryside and all the things thta you and your frined can do there. I suggest you to visit www.ariannandfriends.com for more ideas and personalized packages

I'm italian and I think you can visit very well our State with the train.
You arrive with the plane in Milano Malpensa so you can do a little visit of Milan, than go to Venice (wonderful!) and then you can go in Tuscany. In Tuscany you can visit Firenze, Siena, Lucca, or rent a car and visit little towns (all town is a little pearl!)
Then you must go to Rome: at least 3 days in this city!
If you have more time, you can go to Amalfi's coast.
Then you can leave with the plane from Roma Fiumicino airport.

The vatican, Notre dame, leaning tower of pisa, the parthenon, and some pizza places ^^ Also venice and a couple of small towns, those are nice. Try and get a peek at the Pope... can be a bit hard... if you can, maybe a castle, and some nature stuff... somewhere like a national park. Those are nice. And tour a winery if your old enough, thats fun. My Dads boss owns one and I got to go alot.
