Make sure to bring comfortable shoes, buy a map once there and be ready to walk! If planning to visit St. Peters, the Sistine Chapel, Coliseum or the Roman Forum be sure to go early in the morning, as tourist lines can get very long. Castle St. Angels has a wonderful view of the city and also worth going to. I suggest getting the tour guided recordings whenever possible. The area of Trastevere is also very nice and worth visiting, maybe in the evening, lots of great restaurants. Campo de Fiori is a hang out for locals, and have great wine bars. Tourist tend to hang out at the Pantheon or Trevi fountain. There is so much to see and do in Rome, enjoy your stay!!! |

There are a gazzilion of thing in rome worth seeing and to do.
Giggetto al portico d'Ottavia as a resturant, is not to loose, Er Cuppolone near S Pietro in worth TO AVOID.
So plan ahead what's worth to see for you. Galleria Borghese requires a reservation, just to enter.
The TOURING CLUB ITALIANO has wonderful guides that can help you in making plans. |

Hi! I'm Italian and I live in Rome...
You must visit absolutely the Colosseum (Colosseo in italian language) and the Trevi Fountain, that is great!!
You should also visit the Pantheon and all Ancient Rome, Piazza di Spagna and Piazza S. Pietro. The Vatican's Museum are fantastic...
If you take a coffee (the Espresso is the most good coffee in the world), you must say "Vorrei un Espresso" or and for have informations you should take "Dov'è (and the name of the place that you want visit)!?"
However, I hope that you will like Rombe, because it's very beautyful and the romans people are so good!!
Sorry for the eventual grammatical errors, because this language is not mine... Bye |

I second the shoe suggestion. You are going to walk a lot. I usually buy a new pair for the trip. Something comfortable. I wouldn't buy the map there though. Attached is a link to the map I like. It's not too expensive, laminated and written in English with a map of the metro (subway). |

Yes...while in Rome do as the romans do.
i.e. engage in orgies and watch captured prisoners of war fight lions and tigers in the colosseum |
