I am going to travel in Italy(milan). which is the best italian souvenir?

1st One - la maschera?
Oh my goddess. Italian souvenirs are the most horrible thing I've ever seen (maybe because I live in Italy), but if I should choose, my favourite one would be those nice little Venetian masks made in porcelain. You can fint them in every city, because italian policy about souvenirs is: we sell souvenirs from each city in each city, so people won't buy them from chinamen.

If you will never visit Milan again I would buy postcards of varied scenery of Milan, not to send but to keep.
Also a mug/plate/cutlery with typical Milaninscription/picture or a small ornament.
Any local food/sweets/biscuits, which will keep for a while.

The best souvenir will have a story you can tell all your friends when you get home. Here's a suggestion.

Go to the Piazza del Duomo (cathedral) and look for the artists that are sketching or painting the church. Talk to one that is doing a painting you like and ask if it is for sale when he/she finishes it. If yes, negotiate a price and time for pickup. WRITE DOWN THE PRICE AND MAKE SURE HE/SHE AGREES to avoid getting scammed (happened to my sister). Then tour the church and the arcade to the left as you are facing the front of the Duomo.

Assuming you haven't spent all of your money, pick up your painting and get the artist's story. Buy him or her an espresso!

Buona fortuna.

There are lots of different pretty scarves in Italy that are reasonably priced. They are becoming very popular in the U.S. Italy is also known for their lemoncello (a liquor made in Sorrento); glass (Murano Island in Venice); and leather.
