Here is a great site to do some research. I found this site after we had traveled to Italy. I wish I knew about this site before. Very informative.

Planning a trip to Italy is very time consuming. I hope this site helps.
We did a escorted tour to Italy, we picked out the places to go but left the rest up to our tour operator. We also used a travel agency and she was very helpful in getting us very affordable airline tickets.
Good Luck)

Where are you planning to go? Milan, Rome, Florence, Naples, Sicily, Sardinia?
I've found inexpensive tickets by flying into London and then taking an inexpensive Ryanair or Easyjet flight to Italy.

Have a look at Italian Tours - we did an escorted tour with them, but they can also help you organise your own trip with great advice about where to go, where to stay, how to get around etc.
