while in Italy go to Sienna it is a beautiful little square, also hit up Florance and Labro. Its a awesome little 13 century medieval village! And while in France do Via Ferrata its amazing you have never seen anything like it, and also look for places to go canyoning in southern France right at the boarder of Italy i don't remember what the town is call but you have to try it. Also you must go to Monaco! and if your on a budget no worries there is a cute little hostel right on one of the cliffs by the beach, its right in between the producer of ledzepplin and one of the creators of google. But there are so many possibilities!

I am not sure you and your family should be traveling to Frence, I here they are horrible to Americans. Now if you wanna hang out in a country that just loves us to death, how a bout you goto France, things are much better there :)

Have fun!

i lived there for 6 months, of course you will have to check out the major monuments there and i think the first should be Rome it should take 2 days, there is a touristic bus that passes every half an hour and starts from the main train station u will have 2 ticket options one is only a drive through and the other a Multi ticket that will allow you to get off the bus at every and any site u like and then get back on it when Ur finished, the next day check out the Vatican city.

Florence, Venice and Pisa are major cities too that u should check and if you really want to enjoy Ur trip do it the Italian way on a scooter :D.

you should also visit Cortina in the north its in valley between the mountains a very beautiful place i have been to up to a mountain called marmalade.

i lived in bologna and its my favorite city it has this antique atmosphere didn't find it any were else.

i didn't go to the south though

hey and around the mid of June there is a three days festival "Heineken Gammin festival" its a hard rock festival.

i have allot to say i guess but i think the above is the most important.

i enjoyed it alot was a trip of alife time i am sure you will too

Ciao

There's the south of Italy, Sicily, Naples and the Amalfi coast.
In Liguria you could go to Cinque Terre, a nice trekking with wonderful views. Nearby you can go to see the Carrara marble quarries where Michelangelo used to pick up his marble.
In Tuscany, there is the entire Chianti region, Siena, Saturnia with its roman spas, Pisa with the leaning tower, etc...
North of Venice you could do a tour to the Palladian villas and see Verona, Romeo and Juliet town and the Opera Colosseum.
So much to see...
