I am staying in Venice for 3 nights, me and my husband plan to take a Gondola? |
I read that that it costs 80 Euros. Is that cost per person or per Gondola?
I mean they tell a Gondola carries 6 people, so if it's per gondola would that cost us 80/6 Euros?
Also, any suggestions about sight seeing?
Thanks in advance |

It's the cost per gondola. There is an official price rate for Gondolas, and it's 80euros for a 40 minute standard tour for up to 6 people - see: http://www.gondolavenezia.it/history_tariffe.asp?Pag=43
What to see? Well, there is so much in Venice. St Mark's is fantastic, get there early to avoid queuing too long, and remember to visit the museum at the top where you can walk on the terraces, and see the original bronze horses; get the lift to the top of the Campanile; tour the Doge's Palace and walk over the Bridge of Sighs; ride the vaporettos - No 1 takes you right along the Grand Canal so you'll see all the palazzos; have coffee in St Mark's Square, expensive but worthwhile; walk along the canals; there are so many churches to see, I love Frari, Miracoli, and Gesuiti; visit the Rialto bridge and markets; get off the tourist trail and just wander the little streets; visit the Ghetto; take the vaporetto to Murano and Burano islands and, if you have time, go to Torcello; you might be interested in stopping at the cemetary island of San Michele.
Well, that should keep you going! |

prices vary.. so do the routes around venice.
80 euros is for the gondola.
you could try sharing with others to split the cost...although not as romantic as a gondola for two!
the water bus system is a excellent and cheap way to see venice and the other islands.
you must see st marks square, the basillica, bridge of sighs, santa maria del salute, rialto bridge ( i had lunch at one of the resturants by the side of the bridge and sat watching the "traffic" moving up and down the canal...expensive but memorable)
Grand canal,Burano (the island with the coloured houses)
there is so much to see in venice (ive visisted the place 3 times..and still want to return!)
Get a good tourist book and plan each day and cram as much in as you can..cos you will regret if you miss anything.
enjoy your 3 days! |

I believe it was per person but it depends on where you find the gondola. Its better to find one not in the main center of the city, try to go a little deeper into the city and find a cheaper one. My family found one for 60 euros each. And you should definatly take it at sundown. |
