Uhm, it depends on where in Italy you're going. Anyway it's still quite warm over here, so I wouldn't wear them. If you really want to, wear them in the evening but not during the day. Hope you'll have a great time!

Wear boots only if they are trendy and nice!
fashion still makes sense in Italy. As per Venice, I have lived there for a few years, never owned boots. If there is a flood (but its is too early still, usually mid automn) and you need boots, you can buy a cheap rubber pair there.

depends on what part of italy.... as to the weather..... Italy is in the med are so its usually warm this time of year.....
