This could vary widely depending on exactly what you see and what & where you eat. It also depends on where you're from and your age becasue many tickets are for various groups of EU citizens (under 18, over 65, disabled, ...).
There are museum passes available for 12 and 6.50 euro per person: http://www.museiciviciveneziani.it/frame.asp?pid=197&z=2&tit=biglietti. these include all the museums in St Mark's Square except the Basilica (Doge's Palace, Correr, Archeologico Nazionale, Marciana, Library).
Individual prices:
Accademia 6.50 euro; 3.25 euro (EU citizens 18 - 65)
Accademia + Ca' d'Oro + Oriental Art Museum 11.00 euro; 5.50 euro
see also: http://en.venezia.waf.it/ There are some good descriptions of various museums in Venice at: http://www.museiciviciveneziani.it/main.asp?lin=EN
Food: If you eat a panini or a slice of pizza the cost will be around 6.50 euro plus a couple of euro for a drink. Prices are cheaper further from the main tourist areas. A pizza will be 10 to 12 euro. Sit down meals typically will be 35 to 50 euro, but can be much more expensive, or maybe a little less so if you only order a pasta. Menus are posted outside the restaurants; you can check the prices before you decide on a place. One thing to watch for - some prices (especially for fish) are per etto. That's the price for 100 g (about 3 ounces). When they present a nice, big branzino for your approval, you need to be aware that it will be weighed whole before cooking. I know one US visitor who ended up spending $100 just for one fish for lunch (it was very good, but he spent the rest of the day walking through Venice muttering "$100 for a fish!"). Also, if you sit in one of the caffès in Piazza San Marco for a coffee or tea, it can be very expensive. You pay a cover charge, service, a higher price for the coffee, and extra for the music if the combo is playing while you sit there. It's a nice experience; you just need to be aware so you can decide if the cost is worth it to you. There are some times, for example during the Flight of the Angel the first Sunday of Carnevale, where this can actually be a very good deal.
You can get a pass for the vaporetto for 12, 24, 36, or 48 hr depending on your needs (14 - 26 euro per person) http://www.actv.it/english/navigazione.php?pagina=tariffe_vaporetto

The art museums, piazza San Marco, love that place, then u can ferry ride to island of Lido, take a Gondola ride. You would be ok with about $100 per day budget. If you want to stay then would find cheaper accommodation in Mestre which is the first station from venice. |

Either buy a guidebook before you leave home and work out an itinerary based on your interests, or pick up brochures from your hotel on arrival. But these are the basics:
There is a tourist walk from Santa Lucia railway station to St Mark's, it's very well marked and the hords of tourists will assure you're going the right way. These streets will take you past the Frari Church, famous for Titian's Assumption alterpiece amongst other treasures; through the Rialto Markets and over the Rialto Bridge; down numerous alleyways; into St Mark's Square where you can visit the Basilica San Marco, Doge's Palace, and Campanile.
Take a vaporetto ride down the Grand Canal; take the vaporetto to Murano and Burano, and some of the smaller islands if you have time.
Do try to get off the tourist trail and walk around the Venetian suburbs, also, if you have time go to the Ghetto area.
Just a note about an earlier answer to this question: Do try to do one of the 'Secret' tours of the Doge's Palace, you'll need to book for this, where you will see Casanova's cell. But don't be disappointed, it's not a murky underground dungeon, but in the attics - there were no underground prison cells in the Palace.
Also I understand feeding the pigeons is now banned in St Mark's Square. |

I think it will take about 200$ a day. If you get your meal in a local supermarket you can strongly cut the expences, restaurants are quite expensive, and drinks at the bar too.
Don't forget to visit Piazza San Marco, feeding thousands of pigeons! And don't forget to bring from home pigeons' food too, if you buy it there you will be heavily overcharged.
And Ponte dei Sospiri, the Ghetto, the Piombi (famous underwater prisons where Casanova escaped) in Palazzo Ducale.
Please consider that in Venice local people has a stong accent and it will make difficult to understand italian also if you have a good skill. |
