gia, l'italiano è una lingua molto difficile, per la grammatica sopratutto.
sono felice che ti piaccia la mia lingua, e il mio paese, che in questo periodo non se la passa tanto bene...
coltiva le tue passioni, buona fortuna !

I love Italy and all things Italian!!!

Like you, I learned the language in college, and it was hard to keep up when I wasn't in class. A few ideas:
1) iTunes has free Italian lessons you can download
2) My professor always said listening to music is the best way to learn a language, so browse some Italian music online
3) Many libraries have italian-language books. I found reading light things like mysteries was a good way to keep up- it didn't feel like homework, and the reading wasn't as hard as what you get in class.
4) Try to find a person- in person or online- that you can chat with.
Good luck!

hey i am italian and i have ur same passion, but for ur language:P i know that italian is difficult but trust me, once u manage to learn it and to learn about our culture u will feel very proud:D our country is wonderful, our tradition is as well, and i think u should come for sometime to exercise so u can learn even more of our language. but i think that it is worth studying italian even if u don't have the possibility of coming here. anyway come on, smile and i am sure u are going to speak italian perfectly one day:D baci (kisses)...;)

why don't you surf on yahoo answers italy? you'll find it at the bottom of this page, or try to play biliard on the italian yahoo, so you get to know some people (virtual) and you can practise to speak a bit.

Learn it, it's easy and wonderful! Just think you'll be able to read dante's divina commedia in its original version!
Italian food needs no explication... the best in the world!

This is a great forum . There are a lot of friendly and helpful people.

I have exactly the same problem as you- but with french! Am not looking forward to french a level but when I am studying it I am eager to learn more and stick with it. I think the best thing is just to make yourself keep in practise, and then the enthusiasm will follow same as it normally does. Try and do different things like try Italian cuisine (cooking yourself) and enjoy this while you study or even go to Little Italy over here and get some of that zest back for Italian life- good luck!
