Two weeks is what I had when I visited last year. We stayed in Rome for most of time but also took a train to Florence. You can also take a train south to Pompei, etc. Rome will take you a while if you really want to experience the way people live there. You will need a full day in the Vatican (hopefully a Sunday so you can see the Pope) because you have the Vatican Museums and St. Peter there. You will need another full day to see the old town - the Coloseum, The Forum, the Pantheon, the Capitol, Vittorio Emanuele, etc. And then another day for the city - Fontana Di Trevi, The Spanish Steps, Via del Corso - the shopping street, etc. If you want to visit the Papal Gardens, etc this will be another day. Make sure you have plenty of time or you will miss out on Rome. If you have time, there are beaches there as well.
Florence is also beautiful and worth it - the Dome there is a must see as well as the Uffizi! A day there will be enough. So my suggestion is - stay in Rome and take day trips to other locations if you have the time. You can easily buy train tickets any day at the Termini station in Rome. |

Depends what you want to get out of it. For the mountains and possibly skiing or boarding head north. If you want more sun and warm weather (plus some great wine!) try the south. The average temperatures in Sicily during November is a high of 19C (66F) and a low of 14C (57F). |

North if you want to go skiing or snowboarding or the snow
south for the beach...which may be cold |

It's really unfortunate that you only get 2 weeks in Italy, but it's better than nothing! I was there for 2 months (I had a 6 week internship), and it was the best experience of my life. Roma, Firenze, and Venezia are the top three cities I would recommend. Definitely reserve a lot of time for Roma, I spent two 3-day weekends there because I loved it so much. You've got the Colosseum, Forum Romanum, Vaticano, Vittorio Emanuele, etc.
While I was in Italy, I lived in Firenze, which is really a great city for living in. Easy transportation, GREAT night life (there's an entire street with just clubs and bars that really comes alive at night.) Don't be afraid to talk to locals about the best places to go to. I made some great friends there. And Giardino di Boboli behind Palazzo Pitti is definitely a must see, especially if you are going when everything is blooming. |

Personally I would head north and see Milan and Tuscany to experience more of Italy heading south Italy is more like rome and I don't think it would add as much variety. Ive also heard if possible to wait and see if you love rome head south because it only gets better but if its a little too much go north |
